Meet The Team
Brendan McLeod
Owner/Principal Physiotherapist
Brendan is a co-owner and Senior Physiotherapist at Physio Next Door. He holds a Master of Physiotherapy from Griffith University. Brendan has played a key role in the growth of the clinic group and is known for his clinical leadership and patient-centred care.
While he treats a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions, Brendan has developed expertise in complex shoulder injuries and upper limb neurological conditions such as Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). His expertise in these fields is a result of completing multiple advanced professional development courses in shoulder rehabilitation, and close collaboration with the Gold Coast Hand and Upper Limb Clinic where he assists with triaging and diagnosing shoulder conditions for surgeon Dr Angelo Rando. Brendan’s passion for helping patients navigate these complex conditions is evident through the post-operative shoulder rehabilitation protocol he developed to maximise patient outcomes. He also has vast experience managing patients with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), particularly those with coexisting TOS.
Brendan also has extensive experience managing pre- and post-operative spinal patients, facilitating post-op rehab programs alongside spinal surgeon Dr Matthew Scott-Young at Gold Coast Spine. He holds certification in the Dean Watson Headache Approach and has undertaken multiple cervical spine courses, qualifying him to treat a range of head and neck conditions, such as vestibular issues, TMJ dysfunction, and headaches.
Brendan’s background in complex case management has also sparked a passion in education, collaborating with Griffith University and Bond University in the mentorship of physiotherapy students, while regularly facilitating professional development for staff members. He is known for his charismatic, approachable style and for creating individualised treatment plans that align with his patients’ goals and lifestyles so they can return to doing what they love, pain-free and with confidence.
Outside of the clinic, Brendan is just as active. You’ll often find him at the beach, hiking, mountain biking, scuba diving, and playing OzTag.
Sascha Halpin is a senior clinician at Physio Next Door who is known for his enthusiastic approach and genuine care for patients. Sasch has completed two degrees at Griffith University on the Gold Coast of Queensland; the Bachelor of Exercise Science and a Masters of Physiotherapy. He is an experienced hands-on practitioner who combines the Watson Headache® Approach with his extensive knowledge of exercise prescription and patient education.
During his career, Sasch developed a passion for treating complex neurological conditions, particularly in the field of headaches, migraines and POTS. He has been certified in the Watson Headache® Approach, becoming the highest certified headache practitioner on the Gold Coast.
On the weekends, you will find Sasch freediving at the Gold Coast’s coral reefs taking underwater photos (you will see one of his photos printed on the wall in his treatment room!), or working out with friends in the gym. If you have headaches or neck pain, Sasch would be more than happy to help you out.

Brandon Lin
Physiotherapist
Brandon Lin is a dedicated physiotherapist whose motivated approach is outcome-oriented, curated and precise. With a resume of success stories rehabbing hybrid athletes, full-time content creators, busy mums and bodybuilders, you can count on his foundation of practice built on empathy and resilience to help achieve your goals.
Brandon holds a particular clinical interest in headaches, migraines, and POTS rehabilitation, and is secretly obsessed with lower back injuries as well. Backed by his additional qualifications in the Watson Headache® Approach, Melbourne Shoulder Group®, dry needling, chronic pain physiology, as well as published research exploring the role of physiotherapy in mental health disorder management, Brandon is all-in with his commitment to treating the whole person, not just the symptom.
A former competitive ice hockey player from Vancouver, Canada, Brandon retired his skates in exchange for the Gold Coast’s beachside lifestyle to complete a Doctor of Physiotherapy at Bond University. Along his journey, Brandon has also worked across some of sport and medicine’s most demanding environments, from Bond University Rugby Club’s most decorated Premier Women’s team to Pindara Private Hospital’s orthopaedic spinal ward with leading spine surgeons Dr. Matthew Scott-Young and Dr. Benjamin Beer. These roles have refined his expertise in acute injury triage, post-surgical rehabilitation, and lifestyle optimisation for everyday people and athletes alike.
In his spare time, Brandon enjoys creating content on Instagram, eyeballing cooking ingredients instead of measuring them and is an avid basketball and mixed martial arts follower. He will also happily accept unsolicited advice on his golf swing!
Daiyu Takahara
Daiyu completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science at Griffith University before going on to earn his Doctor of Physiotherapy from Bond University. Originally from Japan and raised on the Gold Coast, he has developed a strong passion for helping people return to the activities they enjoy through evidence-based physiotherapy.
With clinical experiences through placement across private practice, sports, hospital and community settings, Daiyu enjoys treating a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions, with a particular interest in lower back pain, sporting injuries and orthopaedic rehabilitation. Having experienced numerous sporting injuries throughout his own life including significant lower back pain, he understands firsthand the physical and mental challenges that can accompany injury. This personal experience has shaped his approach to rehabilitation and motivates him to help patients regain confidence, function and long-term independence.
His treatment philosophy combines hands-on therapy with goal-oriented, active rehabilitation, using progressive strength and conditioning principles to help patients build resilience and return to the activities that matter most.
Above all, Daiyu believes in empowering his patients through education so they have the knowledge and confidence to manage their own health well beyond the treatment room.
Outside the clinic, you’ll usually find Daiyu in the gym, playing golf, surfing, competing in touch football or Oztag, enjoying a good coffee or cheering on the Broncos in the NRL.
